5 days to go

sister jenny drives my journey to madagascar. not a place i would normally use my credit card to visit, since the movie seemed to cover it all. as the time approaches, i muse about the meaning of family. of course, it is permanent, but it also, as one ages, becomes something one chooses to honor (should i go to my nieces' graduation? should i send a card to my second cousin once removed to console for the cousin's divorce? should i send a present for my half sister's daughter's birthday?)  or not.... the more i choose, the more i choose family. my parents and siblings were, as shakespeare said, greatness thrust upon me. all of those relations, attenuated or not become a thread in my life's tapestry. so, lemurs will lend some color, i imagine. and friends lend perfect tint to the thread. i can't wait to see my sister and get the core color rocking again. lots of primary ones, i expect. stay tuned.

two weeks!

no more bmw motorcycle parts but packages keep coming. this weekend, i will purchase a LARGE bag to take to mad madagascar. the stress preparing for lift off matches my excitement. blissfully, a mattress has not arrived to cram in to my luggage.

interestingly enough, this is the first trip for which all i planned is the airplane ticket. sister jenny has planned my whole trip in madagascar. she refuses to divulge the specifics. but, she has hinted at something to do with forests and camping and lemurs. all i need to bring is sneakers and tee shirts.

weather 72. i hope.

three and a half weeks

until i leave PWM on the first leg of my trip to TNR. in preparation for my arrival, my sister has sent lists of items and packages for me to bring to madagascar, including: paprika, a case of green chilis, baking powder, knob creek, pecans, pistachios, 2 kindles, various presents for her hubby (shh, a secret, but one would could use them to make dough), wind chimes, a meat thermometer AND BMW MOTORCYCLE PARTS. to save room in my luggage, she insists that i can borrow her clothes although she is a foot shorter than i am. maybe this weekend i will start conceptualizing packing and see how the jigsaw will fit together.

not only is flying 2.5 days to see my sister a new experience, i can truly say i have never flown carrying BMW motorcycle parts.

i have my visa! and my visa card!
